Connection During Quarantine

Hey, gang.

How are you all doing out there? I hope you’re surviving these tough times in some form or another. Here in the Seattle area, we’re dealing with a resurgence of COVID-19 cases and civil unrest. Logging into Facebook and Twitter over the past few months has been a lesson in endurance. One article I read called it “Doomscrolling.” Seems apt.

Unfortunately, I’m quarantining solo. Okay — technically, I do have Indy here with me as well. Those conversations only go so far. Some of my friends check in — which has been very helpful — but most of the time outside of those check-ins is spent alone.

Fortunately, I have so many distractions. In the last week alone, I:

  • watched the Psych 2: Lassie Come Home (Timothy Omundson is a treasure and must be protected)

  • finished Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey (Kassandra is the only true way to play)

  • started Ghost of Tsushima (Japanese with English subtitles — true snooty mode)

  • did some exploratory design on the next project after Misfit Tales ships (it’s coming, I swear!)

  • picked up Destiny 2 again (damn, that game is so different from the last time I played it!)

  • …and watched so many hours of YouTube and TV

As I wander around my apartment like the Little Prince on his moon-planet, I realized that I can’t be alone in my being alone. As such, I wanted to reach out to see who’s out there. Anyone want to talk? Play some board games or video games online? Maybe a Netflix watch party or start up a small campaign!

I want to know who’s out there wanting to chat!

Protagonist Industries has a Discord Server!

Protagonist Industries has a…. oh wait. That’s the header. But we do have one! Come join our scrappy little crew online! Maybe we can get a little Home by Dark session going! We could talk about movies and games. We can also talk a bit about what’s coming up!

BLM Seattle Freedom Fund Donations Sent

Last month, we vowed to donate all of our profits during the month of June to the BLM Seattle Freedom Fund. This fund was established to help pay bail for “the immediate release of people protesting the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Manuel Ellis (May 2020). Any remaining funds will continue to be used for future bailout efforts as an ongoing community bail fund project.”

Home by Dark has been out for three years, so its profits aren’t exactly stellar, but we’re proud to do what we could to help.

Survey Coming Soon

Finally, I thought I’d mention that I’m putting together a survey for gamers. I usually try to get a feel for the gaming world around me by attending conventions throughout the year, but that’s just not happening this year. This is especially hard as I work towards PI’s sophomore product line.

I’d love your input when it’s done. I want to know what you’re enjoying in the gaming world.

And that’s it for now! I hope to hear from some of you soon! Friends are a great thing to have.
