It’s been a while since we’ve posted an update (6 months?! Holy crap!), so I think it’s time to play a bit of catch up! Let’s get into it!
The Final Two Playsets
Last Thursday, we officially released our last two playsets for Home by Dark.
The April playset, Mercury, is a lighthearted adventure about an annual kid-run bike race. It’s laden with bullies causing trouble and an obsessive sheriff on a mission to shut down the race. Thankfully, the kids have a secret weapon: Mercury, the alien bike!
Our May playset, The Tapestry of Fate, is a bit more of a dark fairy tale. A simple weaver with a magical gift is mistrusted by his neighbors in the medieval village of Plovda. His gifts heal the sick, but why are so many sick to begin with? The mistrust is subtly stoked by Teta, an ancient witch in the guise of an innocent young lady.
These two playsets mark the end of the monthly Home by Dark playsets. These were originally a stretch goal for our Home by Dark Kickstarter. We may publish more of them later. For now, it’s on to the next thing. If any of you create playsets of your own, please let us know! We’re happy to link to them! Also, don’t forget our Twitter hashtag for your story pillar quickstarts: #HBDMiniPlayset!
With the playsets in the rearview mirror, it’s time to work on our next game! We have a plethora of plans that range all shapes and sizes. Right now, we are planning to get some content out there to help pay the bills.
There are a few projects of varying sizes in the works. I'm hoping that we'll have one of them release over the summer, but they're a bit early to be announcing.
In addition, we'll be launching a Patreon this summer for releasing smaller monthly content, such as articles on running RPGs and small games. More may be offered, which'll be announced closer to the Patreon launch.
We’ve also added a couple of new conventions/events to our schedule this year! This July, Jason will be attending Go Play NW in Seattle, WA. In November/December, we’ll be attending PAX Unplugged in Philadelpha, PA as well! Man, that'll be cold.
We’d love to meet up with any fans and get a few games going! Who’s gonna be there? Let us know in the comments, on Facebook, or on Twitter! We’d love to meet up!
Kickstarter Talk This Saturday!
Finally, I'll be giving a talk about my experience running the Home by Dark Kickstarter. This will be based on the article I wrote last year about the experience. I'll go through what to do in preparation, what to expect while running the Kickstarter, and what to expect afterwards.
If you can’t make it, the talk will be streamed and eventually posted online. Check out the Meetup for more information.
That's it for now! More will be coming soon!
